About Christina Wilcomes
Christina grew up amongst plant enthusiasts. Many of her family members were avid gardeners and instilled a deep appreciation of beautiful surroundings. After a stint in northern New Jersey, Christina and her family moved to the Chester County countryside where she was able to really dig in and experiment with a garden of her own. Christina spent her time taming a wild three acres (and two young boys) and learning what she could about sweeping perennial borders and container combinations. With the freshest blooms available just outside her door , Christina taught herself to arrange flowers always mindful of color, composition and texture, not unlike her approach in the garden. Before her life with flowers, she was an educator with degrees from Smith College and New York University. It was through teaching that Christina realized her passion for the creative process.
Hackberry Hill is a small floral studio operating out of Christina Wilcomes' historic house called Hackberry Hill in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Christina offers clients a unique and highly personalized experience. She has a profound love for her job and spends a considerable amount of time fussing and fawning over her clients and their flower wishes. While Christina specializes in cut flower arrangements, container plantings and holiday trimmings and workshops, she has also tackled small garden design projects.
Cut Flower Arrangements and Small Event Florals
Hackberry Hill offers garden-inspired florals with an emphasis on seasonal flowers. During the warmer months, Christina designs with flowers, many of which she starts from seed. Blooms are fresh and harvested at just the right time to extend vase life. During the colder months, Christina sources high- quality flowers from a wholesaler who will use local suppliers when possible. Hackberry Hill prides itself on details, and your flowers will be accompanied by a beautiful, hand-calligraphed enclosure in a complementary container. Flowers begin at $125. Container Design and Holiday Decoration
We offer highly customized container plantings through four seasons. Clients can pick and choose a seasons or seasons, and Christina will design, plant and provide thorough care instructions. Christina is mindful of place - architecture, the colors of surrounding garden composition - to ensure container plantings are a beautiful addition to the overarching theme of the garden. Please know Christina can source vintage containers, but more often works with clients' existing planters. Hackberry Hill Holiday offers festive containers, hand-crafted wreaths and holiday decoration both indoors and out. Container and holiday pricing will be quoted after an intial consult.
